2025 – Cyclone Alfred Apple Cake

We had to stay in the house during the cyclone—too risky in the caravan with the chance of trees coming down or it getting blown over. We’d done what we could to secure it—strapped it to the ground and even to a truck—but just to be safe, we slept in our son's pool room in the house.

We had no power for days. The generator was running at the house, but it was way too loud for our liking. So, what else do you do? Yep... head over to the shed and the caravan and bake an apple cake using charcoal!

We used pretty much the same recipe as our favourite go-to apple cake. And yep—we did it. The cake was a success... and absolutely delicious.
